Music

Hello!

Students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade are exploring music through fun activities including working as a class to create songs that show the concepts of high notes vs low notes, loud vs soft, and short vs long notes. Students are learning how to mimic a steady beat and accent different notes within that steady beat. The students will learn about different families of instruments and different sounds within music. They will also learn about the importance of music throughout the world and how music connects us as a community. 

Students in 3rd Grade through 8th grade are learning all about the different aspects of reading music. We started with beats, rhythms and tempos before moving to reading notes on a staff and solfege, then we did dynamics and articulations before moving onto types of music and different instrument families. The students are working towards being able to write their own pieces of music in groups to be able to show what they have learned this year.
